ANAHEIM, Calif. – The Los Angeles Angels pulled off the eighth triple play in franchise history Tuesday night, with shortstop Zach Neto recording two outs and an assist off a line drive from Dodgers superstar Shohei Ohtani.
In the sixth inning, Miguel Rojas was on second base and Dalton Rushing was on first for the Dodgers when Ohtani ripped a drive up the middle past reliever Brock Burke. Neto made a sharp catch, stepped on second to double off Rojas, and quickly threw to first baseman Nolan Schanuel, who tagged Rushing as he scrambled back.
Rushing awkwardly stepped on first base and fell hard to the dirt, staying down briefly after the play. This marked the Angels’ first triple play since August 18, 2023, and preserved a 5-5 tie in the latest chapter of the Freeway Series. The Angels have now won all four games against the Dodgers this season.
