LaJohntay Wester Delivers 87-Yard Punt Return TD — Just as He Predicted

BALTIMORE — Baltimore Ravens rookie LaJohntay Wester made the biggest play in the team’s 24-16 preseason victory over the Indianapolis Colts — and he saw it coming a day in advance.

Wester predicted his electric 87-yard punt return touchdown during the first quarter, calling his shot after nearly breaking one in a joint practice earlier in the week.

“I had a great joint practice with them a couple days ago and came close to breaking one,” Wester said. “After that, I called my dad and said, ‘I feel one coming Thursday.’”

A sixth-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, Wester showcased incredible agility and speed, weaving through defenders before racing down the right sideline for the score. The play drew comparisons to the legendary Deion “Prime Time” Sanders, who once coached Wester at Colorado.

Wester recalled the advice Sanders gave him about returning punts:

“He told me to relax, be confident — it’s my world back there,” Wester said.

Wester didn’t stop there — he also led the Ravens in receiving yards, with two catches for 41 yards. But it was his highlight-reel touchdown that had teammates and fans buzzing, especially after Baltimore lacked a spark in the return game last season.

Running back Keaton Mitchell praised the rookie’s potential:

“He’s definitely going to make something happen in this league as a punt returner.”
